What Post-Surgery Follow-Up at Nuvia Actually Looks Like

We have seen reviews where after full mouth dental implant surgery, the rare patient may feel like they didn’t get enough guidance once they got home. That's a fair concern to raise — and it's worth outlining what post-surgery support actually looks like so you know what to expect going in.

What Comes Home With You After Surgery

You don't leave surgery without instructions. Before you walk out the door, you (and typically a support person) receive detailed aftercare guidelines covering:

  • What to eat and what to avoid in the first days and weeks

  • How to manage swelling and bruising (ice pack schedule, when to expect the peak)

  • Prescriptions for pain management (which many patients don’t end up needing) and, when needed, antibiotics — with clear directions on how to take them

  • What normal healing looks and feels like versus what warrants a call

These details are specific to what your surgical team did and what your recovery is expected to look like.

Scheduled Follow-Up Appointments

After surgery, you aren’t cut off from your Nuvia team. In fact, you return to the center for scheduled follow-up visits at 2 weeks and 4 months post-surgery. These appointments let your clinical team check on how the healing is progressing, make any needed adjustments to your permanent teeth, and answer whatever questions have come up since surgery.

The follow-up schedule exists because healing happens over months — not days, and patients often have questions come up over time that they may not have thought to ask previously. The implants fuse with bone gradually, and your care team monitors that process over time.

The Line Is Open

Even with 2 post-op appointments scheduled, you don't have to wait for a scheduled appointment to get support.

If something feels off, if you have a question that's nagging at you up, if you're not sure whether what you're experiencing is normal — call. That's what the care team is for.

Most concerns that come up after surgery aren't emergencies. But they're easier to address when you raise them early rather than sitting on them until the next appointment. Your team would rather hear from you.

When Patients Feel Like They're Not Getting Enough Guidance

Sometimes post surgery follow up complaints come from a communication gap — something wasn't explained clearly enough before or after surgery, and the patient didn't know to ask.

If you ever leave an appointment feeling like you have unanswered questions, say so before you go, ask for clarification, and if needed you can request written instructions if the verbal explanation didn't fully land.

If you feel like your care team isn't responding the way you expected, escalate to a center manager. Nuvia wants to be sure your concerns are addressed.
